Ballarat’s Lydiard Street starred as the main street in this 10-part murder mystery series, which tells the tale of Dr Lucien Blake, played by Australian actor Craig McLachlan. Dr Blake returns home to Ballarat in 1959 to run his deceased father’s medical practice and takes the role of police surgeon for the budding township, a job that finds him solving murders and mysteries with his singular curious and analytical mind and unconventional investigative methods.
On Lydiard street you can visit the sites of the various episodes including The Mining Exchange, Heritage on Lydiard, the Old Colonists Club, the Art Gallery of Ballarat, the Regent Cinemas and of course Ballarat Train Station. All of which will have a very familiar air to fans of the show, apart from being great historic sites in and of themselves.
